Eureka!

Penultimate day and I found a house. Thanks to my couch surfing host.
Gorgeous location surrounded by olive groves and hills. 30 minutes walk to the beach.

Unfortunately it was raining by the time I got there.

                 Path to the beach/ village.

Small, one bedroom but fine for me. Comfortable furniture and wood burner. Owned by lovely lady from Denmark.
                     Sea view lost in mist.

An entire ploughed field for chickens and vegetables.

Enclosed garden with Orange, grapefruit, lemon, pomegranate, mango and avocado trees.

OMG

Just checked the weather forecast for uk.
6-9C.
Heavy rain every day I'm there except one when it will snow.

Three days left

Left my wonderful couch surfing hosts who took me everywhere to see the place and look at everything for rent they and their friends could think of.

Stopped in a gorgeous little town on a hill on the left before Koroni. I can't even find it on the map now. It was all white washed and looked like it was made of icing sugar.
Found someone who spoke English and knew about a house but it was on the road and most of the garden was concrete.

Continued to koroni and realised I had been there before but it was a filthy day with waves crashing over the road and I didn't stop.

Had lunch and the Australian/ Greek owner had a small house to rent in the centre of town.
Fully equipped and available any time on a monthly basis.
I'm thinking this might be a good choice as a hunting base since I'm not committed. This is what I did when I moved to kas.

Haven't seen it yet, she was going to call me when she had checked with her brother in law to make sure it was OK.

Back in Greece

Finicounda, 2km from Lachanada, deserted at siesta time.

The pretty village of Lachanada where I have been couch surfing with a friend of a friend.
This could be my new garden.

Had lunch at a little taverna on this beach.

Wonderful wild flowers, tiny Iris.

Had a super circular walk above Lachanada. There are dozens of paths to explore and you can walk anywhere. (and no no stones!)

Bus to Zagreb

This is a lovely region but since the spring takes so long to come I don't think I want to live here. It would be much like living in England but with hot summers. I would need a reason to be here and work of some sort since half the year you would need to stay indoors.
So decided to continue house hunting in Greece..
Booked a flight to Athens from Zagreb.

Took these pictures on the bus from Pula to Zagreb.

                     What a surprise.
Old Zagreb is gorgeous. Took the tram from bus station to main square in old city.

Just time to visit the Museum of Naive art. Super.
